Zachary Paustenbach

CALIFORNIA STATE CHAMPION
Zachary Paustenbach has been a student of Taekwondo since he was three years old. Now at the age of 11, and a
second degree black belt, Paustenbach is now looking to compete for a national title with his Junior Olympics team.

June 2012 - Brian Collins

Congratulations to Brian for being the PUMP Institutes athlete of the month for the month of June. Brian Played football for Lodi High and got a scholarship to Saint Joseph college were he will play at guard or tackle. During his football career at Lodi, Brian earned all league honors and helped his team make it to the playoffs two years in a row. Because of his determination and play Brian was invited to the Lions All-Star Football Classic where he helped the north win a 30-0 victory over the south. We know Brian will continue to improve and play with the intensity he has shown over his impressive career at Lodi High. 

June 2012 - Madelyn Blank

Congratulations to Madelyn for being the PUMP Institutes athlete of the month for the month of June. Madelyn runs cross country and track & Field for Lodi High. Every week she brings her best and usually comes away with a win. In the San Joaquin Sections Meet Madelyn came away with a top four finish in the 3200. As a junior at Lodi High Madelyn still has a year to improve her times and continue to run the competition into the ground. We know this season will only bring bigger achievements for Madelyn

May 2012 - Mary Griffith

Congratulations to Mary for being PUMP’ s athlete of the month for the month of May. Mary is more than pure talent she is a combination of talent and drive that sets her apart from her peers and it shows every time she gets in the pool. Mary’s times speak for themselves with a 200 free time of 1:47.58 a personal best, and a 100 Butterfly time of 53.51 and a section record. With these times Mary is headed to Olympic trials in Omaha, Nebraska in June. Mary is still hard at work both in the pool and here at PUMP getting ready for Olympic trials. 

May 2012 - Andrew Watts

Congratulations to Andrew for being the PUMP’s Athlete of the month for the month of May. Andrew has helped Lodi High win league this year with his third place finish in the 100 free at league championships. He then went on to be 15thin the 50 Free at sections. Andrew’s talents do not stop with swimming he is also a very skilled water polo goalie for Lodi. Keep your eyes peeled  for more action from Andrew this summer. 

April 2012 - Kelsey Gini

Congratulations to Kelsey for being the PUMP Institutes female athlete of the month for the month of April! Kelsey plays soccer for the Lodi High Flames as a full back and was voted player of the week for her defensive play against St. Mary’s. She has also scored on a penalty kick in there win against Bear Creek. Kelsey is a strong defender for the Flames and performs at her best week after week. Kelsey's soccer career doesn’t end here, she recently signed with Sonoma State to play soccer. We know Kelsey will continue to make gains and support her team the best she can! 

April 2012 - Connor Daley

Congratulations to Connor for being the PUMP Institutes male athlete of the month for the month of April! Connor plays Baseball for the Lodi High Flames as a pitcher. Connor struck out three batters on the Trojans in there comeback win on march 22nd.  In his game against the Chavez Titans Daley only allowed two hits to lead the flames in a 7-0 victory.Connor has a strong and accurate arm and will only get better with time and coaching. So far this season Connor has an ERA of 2.59, and has only appeared in 5 games. 

March 2012- Carly Banks

Congratulations to carly banks for being the PUMP athlete of the month for the month of march. Carly plays softball for the Lodi High Flames. She is a powerful player who gives it her all every week. In the last tournament Carly came away with a score and a double. Carly has been putting in the extra work since PUMP first opened being one of our first athletes. She improves every year and has the winning attitude to go along with it. We know Carly will continue her success through the season, and after High School.  

March 2012 -Cole Mahoney

Congratulations to Cole Mahoney for being the PUMP athlete of the month for the month of March. Cole swims for the Tokay Tigers and also plays water polo. Tokay topped Lincoln in swimming with Cole’s help. Cole is part of the 200 and 400 meter relays and both of which were 1stin their match against the Lincoln Warriors. Cole is a hard worker who puts in the extra effort and it shows in his sport. We know Cole will be a great asset to his team and will have great success in the future.    

February 2012 - Anthony Gonsalves

Congratulations to Anthony for being Pumps Athlete of the Month for the month of February. In the opener, Gonsalves had 23 points, including seven 3s, in a win over Folsom. He followed that performance with 24 points and five 3s in a loss to Fairfield and 15 points and three 3's in a win over Lincoln. Anthony comes out every week and helps his team get the win. As a junior Anthony will still have another year to play for Lodi High and we know he will keep improving on his game 

February 2012-Jordan Belasco

Congratulations to Jordan for being Pumps Athlete of the Month for the month of February. In their recent tournament appearance in San Diego Belasco hit the game-winning shot, a tear-drop floating with just over three seconds remaining to clinch the Flames' 80-79 comeback victory over Poway High. Belasco hit double figures in every game during that Torrey Pines tourney, and led Lodi in scoring during two of the team's four games. Belasco has a winning attitude and a drive to more each week. It will be exciting to watch him as a senior. 

January 2012- Gina Bellato

Congratulations to Gina Bellato for being PUMP’s athlete of the month for the month of January. Gina plays Soccer at the collegiate level For Northeastern University. Gina had an ACL tear in March of 2010 and worked at getting back on the field here at PUMP. Gina had tremendous work ethic and bounced back with a vengeance. Now she has made the varsity squad at northwestern and her knee feels better than ever.

January 2012 - Pini Silva

Congratulations to Andres Silva for being PUMP’s athlete of the month for the month of January. Andres also known as Pini plays Basketball for Lodi High and is a big influence in every game. Every week Pini helps the team by sinking a number of three pointers, and it seems his specialty is from the base line. Pini isn’t the biggest on the court but his play is. He is constantly gunning for the ball getting lots steals and rebounds and helps the team with huge assists. Pini is a hard worker on the court and off, and has trained here at PUMP on the offseason and shown a lot of passion for his performance.

December 2011- Ben Simi

Congratulations to Benny Simi for being PUMP’s athlete of the month for the month of December. Benny plays Basketball for Lodi High and is a big influence in every game. Every week Benny seems to rack up 20 points or more to help his flames to victory, but his scoring isn’t the only good part of his game. He also posts very well and pulls down plenty of rebounds. Benny works hard in practice and it shows every week in games. As a junior Benny has another year to take his game to the next level. We have no doubt that hell be as dominate a player next year if not more.

December 2011- Kara Salvestrin

Congratulations to Kara Salvestrin for being PUMP’s athlete of the month for the month of December. Kara plays Volleyball for Lodi high and helped her team win the SJAA Championship. In there final game against the Yellow jackets Kara Salvestrin led the squad with seven kills, while also serving up five aces. Kara is a junior and has a lot more potential to unlock but works hard everyday and her effort shows in her performance on the court. We know Kara will go on to do big things. 

November 2011- Nathan Hyske

Congratulations to Nathan Hyske for being PUMP’s athlete of the month for the month of November. Nathan plays football for Tokay High School. He is a team captain and plays at the full back and line backer positions. Playing both offense and defense can be very tiring but Nathan keeps coming back for more. In their last match against St. Mary’s High Nathan had 2 carries for 5 yards and 2 catches for 32 yards on offense. On defense he had 2 tackles and an assist, one of his tackles stopped St. Mary’s from scoring. Nathan puts in the effort on game day and during practice. We know that Nathan will go on to do big things after high school.

November 2011- Regan Porteous

Congratulations to Regan Porteous for being PUMP’s athlete of the month for the month of November. Regan plays soccer and this year a played varsity football as a kicker for St. Mary’s. Regan is an energetic girl who found that kicking field goals isn’t just for boys. The varsity coach for St. Mary’s saw a lot of potential in Regan’s leg at the Powder Puff Football game, and became the field goal and extra point kicker. So far this season St. Mary’s is 9-2 and Regan has scored 8 points, with her first field goal against Stagg High. Regan is a very talented athlete who probably won’t make herself a career in football, but is having a blast this season showing everyone that girls rule!

October 2011- Taylor Cox

Congratulations to Lodi’s Taylor Cox for being our athlete of the month for the month of October. Taylor plays for Lodi High Varsity Soccer and is always a deciding factor in each game. Lodi is undefeated this season and Taylor helped Lodi take the lead after Bear Creek tied it up after the half of Lodi’s last game by scoring off an assist by Pat Kelly. Taylor constantly helps set up his team mates to score week after week and occasionally sneaks the ball past the defender to put a score on the board. Taylor is a team player that spreads the love around setting up possibilities not based on players but opportunity. Taylor works hard on the field and here at PUMP for off season training to stay above the competition.

October 2011- Sydney Olagaray

Congratulations to Lodi’s Sydney Olagaray for being our athlete of the month for the month of October. Sydney runs for Lodi High Varsity Cross Country and always contributes by being in the top 3 every week. Sydney helped Lodi go to their first CIF Championship in 2009 and the Varsity girls have been leading the league ever since. Sydney is a hard worker putting in the hours at practice and here at PUMP to make sure she is always ahead of her competition.  

September 2011- Mary Griffith

Congratulations to Lodi’s Mary Griffith for being our athlete of the month for the month of September. Mary is a state level swimmer who recently was a double winner at the miller Hot Dog meet on Sunday the 18thof September. She took first  in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.32 seconds, and winning the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.35. Mary is fast in the pool and works hard to be even faster when she is out of the pool here at pump Institute. Mary told us these are her best times she has earned at this point in her season. We know Mary will continue to impress and move on to bigger things! 

July 2011- Dara Tawarahara

Congratulations to Dara Tawarahara for being Pump’s athlete of the month for the month of July. In her time at Pacific Dara earned the honors of All-American, Pacific’s Competitor of the Month, Big West Player of the Week, and was the second-leading goal scorer in the Big West conference. Now she is off to continue her career in Melbourne, Australia, playing for Melbourne Collegians Water Polo Club. Congrats Dara on your accomplishments.  

July 2011- Ruben Vallejo

Congratulations to Ruben Vallejo for being Pump’s athlete of the month for the month of July. Ruben runs track for Lodi High School and the Lodi Track Club. This year in the Junior Olympics Ruben competed in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1.05 earning him a third place finish. Ruben just graduated from Lodi High in the spring and still competes in track and field events with the Lodi Track club.

June 2011- Cassidy Daley

Congratulations to Cassidy Daley for being Pump’s athlete of the month for the month of June. Cassidy is a distance runner for the Lodi High Track and Field team. All season long Cassidy has put points on the board to help her team. Daley, who placed third at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters meet last week with a time of 11:2.48 to earn her state bid, posted her fastest time of the season (11:00.96) when she won the San Joaquin Athletic Association 3,200 title. Cassidy is a gifted runner and student we know she will keep on improving through her junior and senior years. 

May 2011- Katie Westerterp

 Congratulations to Katie Westerterp for being pump’s athlete of the month for the month of May. After tallying wins in several different events in the regular season, Katie proved she is well on her way to becoming a multi-event star as she swept the hurdles, finished second in the long jump (16 feet, 6 1/2 inches) and third in the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 26.34 seconds) at the San Joaquin Athletic Association track and field championships at Bear Creek High School.Also   as a part of the 4x400 team Lodi won first place with a time of 4:14.99. Every week Katie helps her team by winning multiple events. Katie is a gifted athlete with even greater things ahead of her.

April 2011- Jared Person

April 2011- Jared Person

Congratulations to Jared for being the PUMP Institutes male athlete of the month for the month of April! Jared plays baseball for the Galt High Warriors and brings his "A" game every week. So far this season he's batting .372 with 5 extra-base hits.  On the mound his ERA is 3.75, he has 26 strikeouts in 24 innings pitched with the highlight of the season thus far being the no-hitter he threw on March 11th. We know Jared’s play will only improve as he takes his student athlete career to the varsity level.
 

April 2011- Shelby Brendel

Congratulations to Shelby on being our female athlete of the month for the month of April!  So far this season Shelby has 8 goals and 2 assists for the Lodi Flames Varsity Girls Soccer team.  Three of her goals earned her a hat trick in the contest against St. Mary’s on March 28, 2011.  Every week Shelby comes out strong putting in the hard work it takes to excel on the field.  We know she will keep improving this season and go on to the next level.  

March 2011- Collin Rhoads

Congratulations to Collin on being our athlete of the month for the month of March! Collin is a multi sport athlete who seems to excel at anything he puts his mind to.  He always shows up to play and consistently helps the Lodi Flames get the “W” in football, basketball, and baseball.  Collins work ethic makes him a standout student athlete. Keeping injury free and staying determined will help Collin rise to the top at any level of play on the court or on the field.

February 2011- Colton Machado

Congratulations to Colton on being our athlete of the month for the month of February! In his last contest, on February 2 against Tracy, Colton scored six points.  He always shows up to play consistently helps the Lodi Flames get the “W” with an average of 2.5 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and 7.5 points per game.  Pump has been open for almost four years now and Colton has been one of the most consistent and hard working athletes we have had the pleasure of training. Colton always pushes himself and his teammates to play hard and train harder. We know Colton has a bright future as a student athlete ahead of him.  

January 2011 - Brandon Michelucci

Brandon seems to get better on the court each week and helps his team bring in the win. At the post position Brandon led the team in scoring against Tracy on Wednesday January 12th with 22 points, 9 of which came from 3 pointers, and also put up a double double with 11 rebounds. At 6’5 180 lbs Brandon is a dominant force on the court. Training during the offseason at PUMP he showed great promise for the season and his play talks for itself. We know the rest of the season is going to be exciting if he keeps this pace up. Congratulations Brandon and good luck with the rest of the season!

December 2010- Justus Panzerello

Congratulations to Justus for being PUMP's athlete of the month! Being a power forward at 6'3 Justus scored 26 points helping the flames get their first win of the season. His play reflects his work ethic. As a student athlete that came to the PUMP institute for off season training Justus is always trying to better himself on the court and in school. We have confidence that he will be able to take his game to the next level! Congratulations again Justus and well see you in the off season!

November 2010- Haley Kroll

Congratulations to Haley Kroll of Tokay High School's cross country team for taking 25th place in Division I race at the Sac-Joaquin Sub-Section meet.  She has worked hard this season to fight her way back into the race after getting in a car accident in August.  Her hard work and dedication has helped her team place in meets this season as well as earn herself an at large bid for the sections meet.  Good luck Haley and hope to see you at PUMP when season is over.
